In the thrilling and hilarious world of Killer Klowns from Outer Space, I found myself in a precarious situation. Accidentally leaving my friends behind as I sailed away on a boat, I realized that I had unknowingly condemned them to face the wrath of the demented space Klowns. But instead of feeling remorse, we all laughed, knowing that we were in for an unforgettable experience. Moments like these, where you’re escaping from a group of twisted Klowns and sharing laughter with your teammates, are what make Killer Klowns from Outer Space a truly enjoyable game.
As the latest addition to the asymmetrical horror multiplayer survival genre, Killer Klowns sets itself apart in a few ways. With three Killer Klowns and seven Humans, the game offers more players and more exciting skirmishes compared to the typical one-on-four setup. What’s more, the Humans have the ability to fight back, armed with various weapons such as crowbars, baseball bats, and shotguns that are scattered throughout the map. This adds an extra layer of strategy as players navigate the challenges of limited ammo and item durability.
But the Humans aren’t the only ones with tricks up their sleeves. The demonic space Klowns are armed with Cotton Candy Rayguns, balloon dogs, and other unique weapons. Close combat tends to favor the Klowns, but Humans have the advantage of speed. Each encounter becomes a tense and strategic battle, with fights often hinging on well-timed interventions or unexpected twists.
As the match progresses, the Klowns gain new abilities, such as the ability to jump across the map or lure Humans towards them. These abilities further escalate the excitement and offer a range of options for both sides. The game features a wide variety of Klowntality moves that can range from launching Humans into space to serving them a face full of pies. The ability to switch between different Klowntality moves mid-match adds an extra layer of versatility and keeps the gameplay fresh.
The objective for the Klowns is to capture the Humans and hang them on Klown hooks as a dark offering to their malevolent Space Klown God. On the other hand, the Humans must avoid capture and escape before the countdown reaches zero and the Klownpocalypse becomes a reality. Escaping is no easy task, as players need to locate the exits on the map and gather the necessary items to open or activate them.
Even if a Human is captured, there’s still hope. Teammates can rescue captured players, and there are mini-games that provide rewards to surviving players. These mini-games offer opportunities to help your team even when you’re down. Additionally, the Resurrection Machine allows for a last-ditch effort to bring back all dead Humans for a chance at victory. The game continues to surprise and keep players engaged until the very end.
Killer Klowns from Outer Space successfully captures the humor and absurdity of its cult classic inspiration while carving out a unique space in the asymmetrical multiplayer genre. In my experience playing the game, I had an absolute blast. It’s the kind of game that is perfect for playing with friends, and it has the potential to stand out in the crowded gaming market. The developers at Illfonic are confident that they have created the best Klowns from space game in history, and it’s hard to argue with that claim. I, for one, can’t wait to gather my friends and face the Klownpocalypse together. And this time, I promise I won’t leave anyone behind on the pier.
